Martinique Rum – The unique taste of tradition
Literature and cinema put bottles of rum in the hands of pirates who terrorized the Caribbean seas in the golden age of piracy. However, over the centuries, the typical Caribbean drink learned to choose the best companies and, by the 20th century, became a fundamental ingredient of the most sophisticated international cocktails, from Cuba Libre to Mojito, Mai Tai, Daiquiri and Piña Colada, not overlooking Ti’Punch, the national drink of Martinique, or the “petit-ponche” (“ti” meaning “small” in Martinican Creole), a mix of agricultural rum, lemon juice and sugar cane syrup.

‘Rhum agricole’ is obtained directly from the fermentation of sugar cane juice, a process that Martinique distilleries have perfected since the end of the 17th century, earning them, in 1996, a Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC) guaranteeing that no other rum compares to Martinican rum.
Recognized for its delicacy and balance, aged in oak barrels, Martinican rum has conquered connoisseurs with its smoothness and aromatic character, qualities that have earned it numerous international awards. And many admirers in every corner of the world.
