Ferry Sun – Embracing the Zambezi

In the Nhau Tete, this dance of masked men testing the resistance of the earth with the strength of their bodies, we find the Ferry Sun. Eight years old, it belongs to the same group as the Southern Sun Hotel in Maputo, which resembles an ambitious octopus stretching out its tentacles as if to embrace the sea. This one, in Tete, is no less ambitious. It’s a ferry moored to the shore of the Zambezi, this body of water that crawls like an enchanted snake chasing the sound of the Indian sea. From the river, almost an omnipresent landscape in Tete, some crocodiles or hippos emerge, a spasm on the surface before letting themselves be swallowed up by the sea once again. There are 133 rooms that serve as a starting point for experiencing a whole life in this Tete known for its sun and corners and for the paths it opens up to geographies such as Boroma or Songo, always marked by the permanent falsetto of the goats.
