The Royal – A majestic experience
Blue-blooded or not, we all like to feel like royalty when it comes to being served. And because going to a restaurant is one of the most complete experiences we can enjoy, The Royal was created to provide its customers with truly royal treatment.

Established in Matola, more precisely in Novare Matola Mall, this restaurant promises an innovative and refined adventure with international standards, gourmet cuisine and drinks that abound in creativity. That is what Naimo Tempo, the restaurant’s head of communication, tells us, adding that “the concept took off because people were looking for a space where they could enjoy a warm and discreet environment, but also lively and dynamic.”
The Royal delights the residents of Matola and surroundings with its versatile menu, infused with a global touch while preserving traditional Mozambican dishes which get a refined twist from the chef.
It is, according to Tempo, a “unique” space that seeks to maintain a high standard of service and product offer – something which became complicated during the pandemic due to the
challenge of replacing some imported products. “(…) we have, unfortunately, had some unexpected disruptions and delays in imports… but thanks to years of experience in the area, we have fewer and fewer gaps in this regard.”
But this challenge has in no way harmed The Royal’s service, which has the motivation of its staff as a top priority, ensuring continuous training and a platform to ensure that their concerns are heard. After all, it is the people who make this space majestic.
And because there are so many restaurants, we wanted to know what makes this one so unique. “The Royal allows customers to enjoy a business environment, a lecture or work training, a corporate lunch, a themed party, a buffet, live music, and even a more lively night out… it’s a versatile space and it can also host brand/product launches, among others.”
Fortunately, the diversity also extends to the kitchen, where wonderful delicacies are prepared, from the famous meat board to Royal Pizza, not forgetting the popular sushi, the succulent sirloin steak or the exotic oysters.
But what you really cannot miss out on is the delight of tasting the Seared Tuna. It’s 200g of fresh local tuna loin, prepared with a mixture of sesame seeds, seven Japanese seasonings, a balsamic vinegar reduction and served on a generous bed of arugula. A sublime experience!
And if what you’re looking for in a restaurant is more than quality food, rest assured that this one has live music sessions. “The public doesn’t go to a restaurant just to eat… the experience, animation, atmosphere and music are fundamental. We chose to vary the presentations in order to please the widest possible audience, we have karaoke, acoustic music, DJ shows and renowned bands.”
All in all, The Royal is more than ready to welcome you: from the elegant decor to the service, without neglecting practical aspects such as parking space or the incredible sensory experience offered by the delicacies and music, this space has it all. The only thing missing now is your presence.
