Lunamar – Between the hustle and the quietness
A trip to the city of Beira always seems like a race against the clock. It always seems to us that time is scarce, that what we see can collapse at any moment and we will never see it again. If it is true that it may be the result of the last cyclones and storms, it is no less true that the violence of the sea always causes this sensation of the present fading between our fingers. The sea challenges our memory, but it also challenges tangible things. The ruins of the Palace of Weddings, right in front of the Grande Hotel, are already beginning to give way to the weight of the water, but the mural by the artist Chicani seems to remain unscathed. But for how long?
Thinking of a place that allows us this urgent exploration always comes to mind when considering the place we pick to enjoy a stay in Beira to the fullest. A place that puts us close to everything, but at the same time protects us from the hustle and bustle of big cities. After all, after the dazzle of new experiences, peace is needed to take them in.
Lunamar, on the Beira waterfront, is able to fulfill this dual role. With 42 rooms, standard and master suites, the hotel, which has a light, fragile aura, as if it doesn’t want to be noticed, is defined by gray and transparent glass. It is a few minutes from the sea, always violent, which barely allows us to dive, but which always seems to make us hear the movement of the waves as if they brought us a message from other times.
▶ HOW TO GO
Arriving at Beira Airport, it is a 20-minute drive.
▶ WHERE TO EAT
From surf to turf, Lunamar’s menu has several options. But you can always visit the restaurants in the city centre, another way to get to know Beira.
▶ WHAT TO DO
Beira is a constant challenge to the traveller’s memory. Between the ruins of the time we would have liked to have lived in and the green space that was erected in the city centre, there are an infinite number of programs to be completed.
