Aircraft disinfection – “Our teams are trained to meet the highest standards of cleanliness”
Aircraft are cleaned with a high-grade disinfectant, classified to fight many communicable diseases.
Now, more than ever, the importance of clean air in aircraft is a decisive factor for those who travel by plane. That is why, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, LAM – Mozambican Airlines has been developing an ongoing disinfection activity on board the aircraft, in order to prevent possible effects of the spread of the coronavirus. This disinfection is done on all stops and overnight, with a high-grade disinfectant, classified to fight many communicable diseases.
“We can ensure that the air that our passengers breathe inside our airplanes is almost as pure as the air that we breathe inside our homes,” LAM’s General Manager, João Pó Jorge, says. When it passes through the filters, it is completely renewed, in a process with a high oxygenation standard that keeps it always pure and suitable for human breathing,” he adds.
In fact, LAM has been strictly following the recommendations of the national health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the health and safety protocols on board the aircraft. “Our aircraft cleaning teams are trained to meet the highest standards of cleanliness and offer our customers a safe and comfortable experience on board,” added the company’s General Manager.
On the other hand, HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Arrestance) air filters used on board airplanes extract more than 99.7% of viruses and bacteria in the air and promote air renewal every three minutes. After the flight, the parts of the cabin that are frequently touched are cleaned, including the WCs, including doors, flush button, taps, garbage cans, the seat backs, tables and armrests, the handles of the upper luggage racks, the light switches, individual ventilation controls, call buttons for flight attend- ants, seat belts, removable head rest protection, as well as windows and window blinds.
For this type of disinfection on board aircraft, LAM has used 70% alcohol and Netbiokem, a specific product for aircraft, recommend- ed by aircraft manufacturers.
On all flights, the company keeps the air conditioning equipment on board aircraft working properly, in order to purify the air at all times, to safeguard the health and safety of all passengers and their crew.
